Depression
Persistent low mood and loss of interest that affects sleep, appetite, energy and the ability to work or study.
How we treat it
Assessment by a consultant psychiatrist, antidepressant medication where indicated, and psychological therapy with one of our clinical psychologists. Severe episodes may be managed as inpatient or day patient care.
Signs to look for
- Low mood most of the day
- Loss of interest and pleasure
- Disturbed sleep or appetite
- Fatigue and poor concentration
- Hopelessness or thoughts of self-harm
